What the lorem Ipsum Generator does

Lorem ipsum is scrambled Latin, derived from a first-century text by Cicero, that has been used as placeholder copy in typesetting since the 1500s. It exists for one reason: it looks like language without being readable as language, so anyone reviewing a layout looks at the typography and the spacing instead of stopping to read the words.

This generator gives you three units. Paragraphs is what you want when you are filling a content area and need realistic block shapes; the short, medium and long settings change how many sentences each paragraph contains, which changes how the block sits in a column. Sentences produces one continuous run, useful for a card description or a meta field. Words gives an exact count, which is the right choice when you are testing against a character or word limit rather than filling space.

Two switches change the output. Starting with the classic opening line keeps the familiar “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet” that reviewers recognise instantly as placeholder text — worth keeping, because unfamiliar filler occasionally gets mistaken for real copy and ships. Wrapping in <p> tags gives you HTML you can paste straight into a template instead of adding markup by hand.

Sentence lengths and word choices are randomised on each generation, so pressing Generate twice gives you different text of the same shape — handy when you need several distinct blocks that should not look copy-pasted.

How to use it

1. Choose how many paragraphs, sentences or words you need.
2. Pick a paragraph length if you are generating paragraphs — short blocks suit cards, long blocks suit article bodies.
3. Press Generate as many times as you like for fresh text, then copy it or download it.

A worked example

Building a three-card feature row, you need three short, visually similar blocks. Set the unit to Paragraphs, the count to 3 and the length to Short, then untick the classic opening so the first card does not stand out from the other two. You get something like:
